The Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300-400 word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief. All of Ms. Thomasson’s students at BMS participated in this national writing contest by writing essays based on this year’s theme, “Why I Honor the American Flag.” Congratulations to seventh grader, Jason Chen, who won at the local VFW Post level for the second year in a row. Congratulations Jason!
