The Federal Communications Commission has rolled out a new program to help families with expenses related to broadband internet services. The Emergency Broadband Benefit goes into effect today, May 12, 2021.

The new program provides up to $50 per month in assistance toward the expense of broadband services for households that qualify. There is also a provision that provides a one-time payment of up to $100 to help defray expenses related to the purchase of a laptop, desktop, or tablet computer.
