The Department of Student Assessment, Accountability, and ESEA Programs and the  Department of Special Education and Student Services have developed two informational resources for parents of students participating in the Virginia Alternate Assessment Program  (VAAP): a video and a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document. The video which is approximately 23 minutes in length discusses changes in the VAAP and presents the Virginia  Essentialized Standards of Learning (VESOL) and sample reading, mathematics, and science test items. The FAQ document addresses related information.

Both resources are available under Parent Resources on the VAAP webpage on the Virginia  Department of Education website. If you have questions about these materials, please contact the student assessment staff at Student_Assessment@doe.virginia.gov or (804) 225-2102.
