Mecklenburg County Public Schools is selecting a mascot for the new Mecklenburg County Middle School and Mecklenburg County High School. It is important to have input for this selection from students, staff, and the community. We have developed an online survey that will be used to collect information to guide the process. The survey can be found at https://mcpsweb.org/?page_id=32064.

This survey will be available online through Wednesday, May 8th. The results of this survey will be used by the MCPS Marketing Committee as the basis of selection for 2 to 4 mascot images. These images will then become part of a final survey for selection. The results of that survey will be presented to the School Board at the May Board Meeting for final selection of a mascot.

The survey has been divided to collect information from 5 different groups; the Mecklenburg community, school staff, andstudents at the high school, middle school, and elementary level. We welcome all community responses. We encourage all MCPS employees to complete their survey. We ask that all high school teachers encourage their students to complete their survey. We ask middle and elementary teachers to discuss the importance of mascot symbolism and how the survey process is similar to participating in the democratic election process with their students, and then identify a time that each class can participate in the survey. Please respond to the survey only once per person.

Mecklenburg County Public Schools is very excited to be at this stage of development for the new middle and high schools. Your input is important! Please share this information with your friends and co-workers to get their input as well.

Thank you for your time!
