We recognize that news coverage of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to raise questions and concerns within our community.  Virginia’s governor declared a state of emergency for the Commonwealth Thursday.  School and student safety is our top priority.

All academic field trips outside of Mecklenburg County have been canceled until further notice.  Information regarding athletic competitions will be forthcoming as those decisions are made.

Bluestone High School’s custodial staff is following prescribed recommendations for cleaning and disinfecting school and classroom surfaces.

Staff and students are reminded to wash their hands regularly, and properly cover their mouth and nose when they cough or sneeze.

Governor’s School students and any other students impacted by the closure of SVCC and other programs that serve our students will be provided with internet access and a workspace in the library.

Teachers are instructed to prepare a learning plan for their students, should the need arise, that would be suitable for a two to three-week absence from school. This work will need to be assessed upon return.

It is recommended that students and staff stay at home if they have a fever or are otherwise sick. Students with a fever will be sent home if they do come to school.

As more information is available and decisions are made, we will keep you informed.  Please continue to check the MCPS web page and Facebook page.
