La Crosse Elementary School

Several teachers and students participated in the Winter Spirit Week in order to raise money for Special Olympics. Monday was Pennies for pajamas, Tuesday was donate nickels and wear red and white. Wednesday was donate dimes and wear holiday attire. Thursday was donate quarters and wear crazy socks and hats and Friday was donate any type of change and wear your favorite winter attire.

Fifth graders participated in Kid’s Marketplace today with Jennifer Bowen, 4-H Extension Agent. Students were given an occupation and salary where they had to use their monthly income to purchase needs such as housing, insurance, transportation, food and wants such as pets and fun activities. They learned about managing money and needs versus wants. Thank you to all of our volunteers for making this wonderful event possible!

Congratulations to these four students who made it to the school spelling bee! Abigail Bautista Clifton (runner up) in Mrs. Sasser’s third grade class, Declan Kelly (winner) in Mrs. Lambert’s fifth grade class, Mariah Parker in Mrs. Watson’s fourth grade class and Brantley King in Mrs. Berryman’s second grade class. We are proud of you!
