La Crosse Elementary School

in Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Becker’s class, we are learning to follow directions. During centers, students had to make sure their papers matched the colored shapes on the Promethean Board. Students also created fall “mats” by following the pattern of over and under.

The AR Committee held a special reading challenge during the month of September for grades 1-5. The top two readers from each grade attended the Children’s Book Festival at Longwood University on October 16th. Students attended 3 author sessions and learned about how they wrote their books. Our students attended sessions by Victoria Kann, author of “Pinkalicious”, Kazu Kibuishi, author of the “Amulet” series, and Todd Parr, author of “How to Be Kind.” Students were also able to purchase books from these authors.

Special thanks to all staff and students that collected tabs to be sent to the Ronald McDonald House in Charlottesville and to Dillan Willis for transporting them there.

The Magnificent Manners Club at La Crosse Elementary School was treated to lunch today at Top This Pizza in Bracey! They enjoyed delicious pizza, fried dough, drinks and even received a special stuffed toy for their accomplishment! A special thanks to Ms. Brenda Harris, Ms. Carolyn and Ms. Rhonda E.
